DA Candidate Gives Interview

Yes, it’s way too early to think about the 2009 elections in Westchester, but one candidate for district attorney has already come out swinging.

Dan Schorr, a former assistant DA and a Republican is looking to unseat Janet DiFiore, the incumbent prosecutor.

Schorr will be my guest tomorrow on “High Noon,” the WVOX radio program I host on Thursdays.

Tune in to 1460 AM or log onto wvox.com. Calls will be taken at 914-636-0110.

How to Make a Fresh Sour Cherry Pie

My husband and I have become pretty famous among our friends for our sour cherry pie. (And jam, but that’s a story for another time.) I love this pie, and I love to serve it on Fourth of July weekend. It’s so darn American, isn’t it?

Here’s a video where I show you my no-fail pie crust recipe, and my very special method of pitting cherries. Oh, and the oven almost explodes, too. Good times.

Hope you enjoy the video, and please — if you make the pie, comment here and let me know how it turned out! I’ll be watching the blog all weekend, so if you have questions, post them here. Happy Fourth!

After the jump, the recipes for No-Fail Pie Crust and Sour Cherry Pie.

The Office Podcast — Baby Shower

Like high tide at Omaha Beach, Chris and Bri break down “Baby Shower,” a solidly built episode, much like a $1,200 stroller.

No, we won’t be singing any wildly inappropriate lullabies, but if things run long one of us may need to take a quick nap on that couch in the back.

Weekly podcast and Thursday results

Here’s the weekly podcast, recorded late Thursday:

Download:

We talked about Pelham-Rye, Pelham-Suffern, Rye Town/Harrison-Mamaroneck and Iona Prep-Fordham Prep, among other things.

Some pretty interesting results last night. Mike Daley made 41 saves as Brewster gave White Plains its toughest league test of the season, leading 3-2 after two periods before falling 4-3. Matt Altieri scored the winner from Phil Sigona with 2:54 left. Eric Perlowitz scored four times for Mount Pleasant, who got a much needed win and knocked Clarkstown South out of the playoffs (see my previous post for that breakdown). Brett Novick scored four times asRye Town/Harrison took care of Pawling 8-5, and Ossining won its sixth in a row, beating New Rochelle 4-3 in on a goal by Steven Faiella goal 2:30 into overtime.

Today’s notebooks are about Ossining’s incredible turnaround (“Ossining makes playoffs after slow start”:http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080201/SPORTS02/802010381/1110), Rye Country Day’s big win (“Upset win keeps RCDS in contention”:http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080201/SPORTS02/802010408/1110)
and how Chris McIndoe is the latest in a long line of outstanding Clarkstown North goalies (“McIndoe maintains North legacy”:http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080201/SPORTS02/802010417/1110). Of course, they also include the latest power rankings, and I will do an extended top 10 before lunch.
